Summer Time and the livin' is easy...
Summer...Ahhh. What I associate with summer when I think of seasonal summer decor in my home is beach, coastal, all things sandy. This lamp shade frame got boxwood at Christmas and now is decked out in capice shells. To add that feminine unexpected touch, I did a lace up corset style on one of the sections with fringy old cotton strips of fabric. The fun thing about an open lamp shade frame is that you can see the light bulb. There are so many amazing filament style (edison) light bulbs out there. Google it and you will be amazed!
I decided to go back and pull other pictures that reminded me of summer decor...
This miniature galvanized watering can will accent just about anywhere. This year it is on a two tier stand with all things beach on it. This shelf has bleached coral which I found at a yard sale and a galvanized obelisk.
This chippy old raised panel shutter is a fab backdrop for this sconce. The lampshade? from a Paris brocante (basically a fancy way of saying yard sale in Paris). I purchased 4 of these very mini chandelier shades for $10 euros. I wasted no time removing the old pink silk fabric to reveal the adorable frame. The hanging heart embellishment also from Paris.
This isn't necessarily summer, but we can say that the flower embellishment makes it have a little summer whimsy! I have to tell you that my dear friend went to Waco Texas. Hmmm, whats in Waco? The Silos of course! Joanna Gaines of Fixer Uppers new store. This galvanized magnetic flower came from there - it needed to be in a high profile spot. More about this fixture. The farmhouse style dome is juxtapositioned next to crystals, that's what I loved about this fixture. I liked setting the fixture off in this old vintage bird cage holder. Here is a picture of it within the room....
Even this has changed a bit since I took this picture. The cotton wreath is such a great accent because it can go with any season in my opinion. The "fence" that the cotton wreath is on is actually a real sand dune fence - talk about beachy!
I have more pics to share, but it is beddy bye time. Thank you for stopping by and enjoying seasonal summer decor with me!
